Useful Directives and Bits of Advice for All Teachers
Teachers are
kindly requested to put their pupils in situations in which they try to
express themselves effectively, creatively and fluently.
A situation is
communicative if it helps to bridge what is called an information gap. The
current trend in the teaching of English aims at making pupils acquire
communicative competence which means their ability to use appropriate forms of
appropriate ways. According to their current trend, the English language can
be divided into two phases; learning the forms and then, learning how to use
them. This means that it is not quite essential to marry the two phases for
the sake of good teaching.
Teachers should
bear in mind that a learner who makes mistakes because he is trying to do
something he has not been told or shown how to do, or which he has not yet
given the chance to master, is not really making mistakes at all.
If the teacher
is all the time limiting and interrupting his pupils for correction, he will
destroy their confidence and their ability to use the language effectively and
correctly. This means, in the end, that there should be time when teachers may
interrupt to correct and when teachers tolerate mistakes for a more important
aim. If the teacher is intelligent, he will be able to decide when he has to
be after accuracy and when after fluency, he will be doing his work
successfully and saving time as well.
We believe
that Allah will reward and bless us, if we do our best in our task.
